Online payday lenders in the US are required to comply with local legislation. Different states have different laws in place; some prohibit payday loans, others set restrictions on the maximum APR and amount of money that can be lent, while others are rather liberal when it comes to quick cash lending.

Thirty-eight states allow for payday lending, and an additional eight states do not have specific payday lending provisions.
